Coffee Talks with Nan Colton: Zebra Tales

December 13, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Throughout Fine’s Abstract Expressionist art career, color was a prime concern for her. She felt it was like a spoken language, and that correctly used, it could either shout or whisper. “My paintings speak in the only language I know–color… I like to light up a canvas with color; I like to make it shout or whisper; I like to make it spin or make forms melt softly over the whole picture” stated Fine.

The series of short stories is inspired by Fine’s painting “Globe Trotting Blue”. Folk tales are part of an ancient tradition originating in the era before literacy. Essent passed down orally from generation to generation.“

“In the tradition of storytellers, today’s stories have been chosen to include ancient folk tales from around the world plus my own contemporary, personal experience that I title “a short recall” in order to share, to speak to what we all have in common … some basic emotions and deepest hopes that “color “ us all” – Nan Colton
