Join us for an electrifying night of Latin music, dancing, and thrilling costumes at The Floridian Social. Featuring live music by Nalisio Taveras on his saxophone and DJ Junior in between sets. Dance instructors will be available to patrons throughout the night!

About Nalisio Taveras:

Born in New York, raised all over the globe, Nalisio (“Nali”) Taveras has been riding an exciting musical roller coaster his entire life. He started playing saxophone when he was just 14 years old, studying classical music in Japan. From there he pushed on to college where he would learn clarinet, flute and earn a Bachelor’s in Jazz Performance, followed by a Master’s in Arranging/Composition. Along the way, he earned a number of prestigious awards, including the Hispanic Hall of Fame Academic-All Star Award, Robert Price Master Musician Scholarship, Florida Academic Scholarship, Northeast Florida Jazz Association Scholarship, Mullikan/Matteson Scholarship, Outstanding Scholar of the Year Award, and many others. In November of 2006, Nalisio was voted one of the Top 10 up and coming young jazz musicians across the entire U.S (Jazziz Magazine). Nalisio has performed on more than 16 cruise ships and has played in NUMEROUS festivals and events around the world including: The Jacksonville Jazz Festival (Jacksonville, Fl), The Clearwater Jazz Festival (Clearwater, Fl), Virginia Key Grassroots Festival (Miami, Fl), Montreaux Jazz Festival (France), North Sea Jazz Festival (Holland), the Super Bowl XLIII VIP Party (which included other big name artists like John Legend & Journey), and countless other events. Aside from being incredibly passionate about music, Nalisio also has deep love for Latin dancing and has performed for numerous events as a dancer, including: the Orlando Salsa Congress, the Washington D.C. Salsa Congress, and Sea World (for Viva La Musica). Nalisio currently resides in Tampa, Fl where, in addition to being an in demand studio recording artist, he teaches private lessons, writes music for various entertainment agencies, plays with local bands and performs regularly with his Latin band (Son Salvaje), which consists of an All-Star lineup of musicians (many of which have played with and/or continue to play with Latin AND jazz grammy award winning artists). Forever the student – NOTHING excites Nalisio more than studying different genres of music, learning new things and adapting to the ever-changing music scene. “I never want to take for granted the fact that I get to make music for a living. At one point, this was all just a very crazy idea from a very crazy kid. But I went all in and got after it. It’s funny how ‘crazy’ stops being ‘crazy’ when you attack your dreams.”
