On View: Keaton Fox’s ‘Quiet at Heart’ Installation

Inspired by Joy Williams’ essay of the same name, Quiet at Heart is an immersive video installation that offers a counter-narrative to Florida’s loudest portrayals, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in a Florida that is subtle, surreal, and often at odds with herself.

Drawing from over a decade of intimate archival footage, it is both a love letter and a call to attention — a meditation on what Florida truly is, and what it stands to lose.

Fox is an artist from Florida, whose work “consistently invites viewers to collectively question the aesthetics shaping the fever dream that is 21st-century life.” Since 2011, her projects have won awards and have been exhibited and acquired by galleries, institutions, festivals, and museums, locally and internationally.

Quiet at Heart was made possible by a $5,000 FloridaRAMA Fund artist grant through Creative Pinellas. The installation is part of a group art show inside The Factory St. Pete. It runs through Aug. 30 and is free to view.
