DESCRIPTION:@ 			\n			\n							 \n\n\nThe Subversive Eye: Surrealist and Experimental Photography from the David Raymond Collection\nJoin us for this installment of our Coffee with a Curator series where Museum Staff or invited guests speak on a range of Dalí-inspired topics. \nIn conjunction with our special exhibition\, The Subversive Eye: Surrealist and Experimental Photography from the David Raymond Collection\, this month’s talk will feature The Dalí’s Senior Curator Dr. William Jeffett as he explores David Raymond’s collection of surreal photography. \nIn celebration of the centennial of the founding of Surrealism in 1924\, this exhibition will feature 100+ works created by more than 50 artists\, highlighting the movement’s original aims in the medium of photography and its far-reaching influence. Notable artists include Eileen Agar\, Eugène Atget\, Joseph Bartuska\, Hans Bellmer\, Brassaï\, Manuel Alvarez-Bravo\, Robert Capa\, Georges Hugnet\, Clarence John Laughlin\, Dora Maar\, Lee Miller\, Lucia Moholy\, Osamu Shiihara\, Man Ray and Wols. The talk will present Surrealists\, broadly conceived\, as multi-faceted\, complex and global phenomena that often complement the aesthetics and ambitions of other avant-gardes around the globe. \nLocation: The Dalí Museum’s Will Raymund Theater (registration required)\, with overflow seating available in the Raymond James Community Room or live on YouTube (link below). \n\nRegister to attend in person at the link below. This event is free\, with limited capacity. An event ticket is required for entry. Gallery access is not included. \n\nregister now\n\n\nTo watch the live stream from home\, click below at the time of the program: \n\nstream now\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. William Jeffett\, Curator of Special Exhibitions \nDr. William Jeffett received his Doctorate from the Courtauld Institute of Art\, University of London. He also holds degrees from Oxford University\, Yale University and University of Texas. Before joining The Dalí Museum\, Dr. Jeffett was Curator at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts at University of East Anglia (UK). At The Dalí\, he is responsible for the direction\, curation\, organization and co-ordination of exhibition programs; writing and editing of exhibition catalogs and other interpretative material\, including the interpretation of works by Dali; and research on the permanent collection.  \nDr. Jeffett contributes to the expansion of the Museum’s collection through seeking and recommending acquisitions. He is an active researcher and writer for The Dalí and other museums\, research institutes and universities. He has published numerous exhibition catalogs and articles devoted to Salvador Dalí\, other related artists and contemporary art. Dr. Jeffett has curated many shows for the Museum and other influential institutions\, including the Fundacio Joan Miro (Barcelona)\, Fundacio “La Caixa” (Madrid) and the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza (Madrid). He curated Dalí and Duchamp with Dawn Ades for The Dalí and Royal Academy (London).
