SUMMARY:Art and Meditation at The Dalí
DESCRIPTION:@ \n \n \n\n\nJoin us to journey inward through art and meditation at The Dalí. Our monthly meditation practice is based on the idea of looking at examples of art to achieve a dynamic stillness of the mind. Each session will examine an artwork from a current exhibition to make us think\, refocus\, slow down and go deeper into our minds to permit body connection and awareness. \nAfter a short introduction to the artwork\, we will consider what is in its narrative and formal qualities that could serve us to quiet our minds. Guided meditation instruction and suggestions will lead us to a place of calmness and equilibrium. Each session will introduce and utilize different sets of tools from a variety of spiritual traditions to assist staying in comfortable meditative mode for about twenty minutes. However\, anyone having a prior meditation practice is welcome to utilize it and join us for the collective peaceful energy building.  \nTibetan sing bowl sound will accompany us with an occasional bell throughout the practice and to signal the end of the meditation session. Afterwards\, we will welcome questions and comments about the practice\, the artwork\, and the experience in general. \nWe will conclude with a minute of closing meditation to internally seal the benefits of the practice.   \nLocation: The Dalí Museum’s Will Raymund Theater \nSeating for this event is limited. We recommend arriving early to secure seating with your group. \n\nRegister to attend in person at the link below. This event is free\, with limited capacity. An event ticket is required for entry. Gallery access is not included. \n\nregister now\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKristof Znyk \nKristof is a new transplant to St. Petersburg after living in New York for 30 years. A graduate of City University with a Master of Fine Arts degree\, Kristof taught visual arts in Gramercy Arts High School for 23 years. The intense city life and high job demands led him to become a spiritual seeker. After taking many classes in various yoga studios\, Kristof made the decision to study at the oldest New York City yoga establishment\, the Integral Yoga Institute.  Having earned his credentials\, he taught all aspects of yoga\, physical poses\, philosophy\, breath work and meditation at the institution from 2007 to 2020. Additional studies and certification in Restorative Yoga and Yoga for Kids helped Kristof to incorporate best practices with his students in high school as well as in the Yoga Institute. To deepen and to continue his own spiritual journey\, Kristof was a devoted practitioner of meditation at the Insight Meditation Center\, the Rubin Museum in NYC as well as at ashrams in the Bahamas and California. \n\n\n\nBanner Image: Detail of Dalinian Prophecy\, 1975 by Salvador Dalí

SUMMARY:Alligator Tears with Edgar Gomez
DESCRIPTION:Tombolo Books welcomes award-winning author of High-Risk Homosexual\, Edgar Gomez\, to the bookstore to celebrate his new book\, Alligator Tears! \nA darkly comic memoir-in-essays\, Alligator Tears explores the scam of the American Dream and doing whatever it takes to survive in the Sunshine State. Gomez will be in conversation with local author Tyler Gillespie! \nIn Florida\, one of the first things you’re taught as a child is that if you’re ever chased by a wild alligator\, the only way to save yourself is to run away in zigzags. It’s a lesson on survival that has guided much of Edgar Gomez’s life. \nAlligator Tears is a fiercely defiant memoir-in-essays charting Gomez’s quest to claw his family out of poverty by any means necessary and exposing the archetype of the humble poor person for what it is: a scam that insists we remain quiet and servile while we wait for a prize that will always be out of reach. For those chasing the American Dream and those jaded by it\, Gomez’s unforgettable story is a testament to finding love\, purpose\, and community on your own terms\, smiling with all your fake teeth.

New evening shows will be presented in this unique\, 360-degree format. \nNow playing in The Dalí Dome is the immersive show\, “Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon.” Over 50 years after the iconic album’s original release in 1973\, celebrate and experience it while encompassed in 360 degrees of sight\, sound and sensation. This experience offers—like Salvador Dalí’s art—a glimpse into creative worlds that are both remarkably insightful and fantastically unconventional. \nThe immersive show is available on select nights. \nTickets: $20 for Museum members | $25 for non-members \nLocation: The Dalí Museum’s first floor and The Dalí Dome \nCafé Gala will be open with drinks + select menu items available for purchase. Exhibit contains simulations\, such as flashing lights\, which may affect those susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy\, vertigo or other visual sensitivities and motion sickness. \n\nPink Floyd\, renowned for their revolutionary impact on the music industry\, has embraced how the show artfully blends the album’s themes of everyday modern life with breathtaking views of the solar system and beyond. Played out to 42 minutes of The Dark Side of the Moon in surround sound\, each song has a different theme\, some futuristic and some a retro acknowledgment to Pink Floyd’s visual history\, all relating to a time and space experience\, making it the perfect backdrop to celestial visuals. NSC Creative led the visual production efforts\, working closely with Pink Floyd’s long-time creative collaborator Aubrey Powell from Hipgnosis. \nFeaturing the latest technology The Dalí Dome offers\, this is an all-encompassing surround sound and visual treat that will transcend reality and take you way beyond the realms of 2D experience. \n\n“Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon” immersive show is distributed by: \n\n“Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon” immersive show is supported by:

SUMMARY:Dome Night: Pink Floyd – The Dark Side of the Moon Immersive Show
DESCRIPTION:@ \n \n \n\n\n\nmember tickets\nnon-member tickets\n\nInspired by Salvador Dalí’s environmental and immersive artistic creations such as those for the 1939 World’s Fair\, The Dalí Dome provides the community with new multisensory experiences celebrating art of all forms. \nLocation: The Dalí Museum’s first floor and The Dalí Dome \nCafé Gala will be open with drinks + select menu items available for purchase. Guests are welcome to enjoy their beverage inside The Dome during the show. \n \nPlease arrive by your designated showtime. \nTickets are typically available up to 30 days in advance. \nAll ticket sales are final—no exchanges or refunds.  \nRecommended for 8 years and up. Due to the environment\, parents should use discretion when bringing children to these shows. Viewer discretion is advised due to the explicit nature of some lyrics.
